Flow Measurement and Calibration

Flow calibration standard at Instrument Calibration Center.
Principle
- Liquid flow meter, rotameter , turbine , vortex , magnetic etc.
- Gas flow meter , dp-cell , mass flow (Coriolis effect)

Flow Calibration Diagram (Gas-flow : Nitrogen)
 Flow standard : DryCal DC-2 from BIOS
 Under test : Rota-meter
 Temperature : Hart Thermometer
 Pressure : Druck DPI305

Flow Calculation Example
   Volume flow rate (qv) Units
                                SI            Gases: m3/hr       Liquids:  l/min.
                                IP           Gases:  ft3/hr      Liquids:  USG/min.
   Mass flow rate (qm) Units
                                SI           Gases:  kg/s                         Liquids:  kg/min.
                                IP           Gases:  lb./s                         Liquids:  lb./min.
Determine the flow rate of Nitrogen at standard conditions given. (NAIT Sheet at TTC Thailand)
                                qvf = 35 m3/s
                                Tf = 45°C
                                Pf = 400 kPag
                                Patm = 100 kPaa

                                Standard Conditions 15°C, 101.325 kPaa

Many of the principles of calibration apply equally across liquid control distributorand this guide re-iterates these principles and puts them in the context of flow calibrations. Vocabulary is important to the understanding of the principles and the key definitions of terms have been reproduced from the ‘International Vocabulary of Metrology — Basic and general concepts and associated terms’ (VIM) 2008, and this is freely available from the BIPM web site.

Thanks for sharing. Gas controller plays a crucial role in maintaining the delicate balance between energy supply and safety.
